Lawrence S. Murray is a Georgia-bred filmmaker, photographer, designer, and content creator. Growing up with the rise of social media and digital techniques enabled Lawrence to see the bigger picture of an international industry. He began his creative career as a graphic designer at the age of 15. Influenced by self-portraiture and conceptual photography, Lawrence then picked up a camera and taught himself photography. He continued his studies and explored other mediums in college. He graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2016 where he studied Film & Television and Motion Media Design at SCAD’s campuses in Savannah, GA and Hong Kong.
During his time in college, Lawrence started off as an on set photographer on music videos and movie sets. Lawrence has since expanded into fashion and beauty photography. A clean, bold, and graphic style has become the hallmark of his work, whether shooting advertising campaigns, designer look books, hair campaigns, fashion editorials, or celebrities. Lawrence is renowned for his creativity and collaborating with designers and stylists in order to create fresh looks. His work has been featured in publications such as Cosmo, Billboard, Black Hair, and more.
Since embarking on his career as a director, Lawrence has accumulated over 7 million collective views on his work. He has directed music videos for artists such as Keke Palmer, Avery Wilson, and AM!R. As his catalogue continues to expand, he collaborates with a wide range of artists from diverse genres such as gospel, R&B, Pop, Hip Hop, and alternative. Lawrence’s distinct visual style infuses graphics and stunning cinematography. He enjoys creating visually stimulating and emotive imagery – and is inspired by feminine strength, unique beauty and classic style.
In 2019, Lawrence and his production team created a web series Beyond The Lens, which gives viewers a glimpse of his process with his creative projects. He is also gearing up for Keke Palmer’s The Boss: Album Documentary, which he directed and is slated for a Fall 2019 release.
